Something almost everyone loses time to

You got the enquiry. Then it died on your phone.

A lot of local owners think they need more visitors. More ads. A nicer site. Sometimes that's true.

More often, someone already tried. They rang, filled a form, sent a WhatsApp, or left a voicemail. Then nothing happened in time. They booked the other person at lunch.

That leak is quieter than "we need marketing." It costs more.

What it looks like in a real week

You're under a desk, or on a job, or in the van. The phone rings. Voicemail. You'll listen later. You don't.

A form hits a Gmail tab you open at 9pm. Two of you reply, or nobody does. You type the same "thanks, I can do Tuesday" for the twentieth time. The lead has gone cold and you blame the website.

I've done versions of this myself. It's why I don't leave Home Counties AI enquiries to chance: a short form, it lands in one place, I reply myself, usually within a working day. Missed calls on the IT side get turned into text so they sit next to email. An agent can draft. I still send.

Why a chatbot is the wrong fix

The cheap pitch is an "AI receptionist" on the site. I built one for Markus IT Support. People found it condescending, tried to break it, and trusted the business less. I pulled it. Here's what happened.

A chatbot answers on the spot and hopes it's right. It does not check whether you can actually do Tuesday. It does not own the follow-up. It talks. That's the lowest form of this, in my view.

What actually helps: the message is not lost. A sensible reply is drafted. A human hits send. Same staff. Hours not spent hunting for the lead that came in at 11:40.

This is optimisation. Not a marketing package.

I won't sell you "get found by ChatGPT" or an SEO audit with a new name. I will sit in the boring bit: what happens after they enquire, what happens to the old contact list, which repeat job is eating the week.

If that sounds like your Tuesday, that's what the free chat is for. We find out whether this is even what's costing you time before anyone spends £199 on a written diagnosis.

Tell me roughly what's dying after people get in touch. A rough sketch is fine. I reply myself, usually within a working day.
